Under the scope of investment attraction, the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA):
Under the scope of investment facilitation, the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA):
AIDA has a proactive role in the approach to establishing the strongest possible relationship between the agency and all actors that contribute to creating a more favorable climate for increasing foreign investment in Albania. For this reason, the agency remains committed to creating or continuously engaging in initiatives that create or expand new opportunities for new investors or investors present in the country.
Promotion efforts are also related to the ongoing engagement with investors who are already present in Albania. By providing effective services and keeping communication channels open, AIDA gains trust, visibility and credibility for other potential investors who will engage with us for their plans to invest in Albania.
In 2022, AIDA engaged in the Outreach Campaign in the agricultural sector in Istanbul, Turkey. The focus of this campaign was to contact and present investment opportunities in Albania for Turkish companies operating in the production and processing of tomatoes, fruits and aromatic and medicinal plants.
The campaign was also carried out in accordance with the objectives set by the Business and Investment Development Strategy (BIDS) 2021-2027, which envisages the execution of a total of 7 outreach campaigns throughout the duration of the strategy's action.
The selection of the sector and the country was carried out considering the interest presented by Turkish companies in the agricultural sector at AIDA, the strategic importance of the sector as well as the geographical proximity and the consolidated partnership between the two countries. Also, AIDA has good relations with the Turkish counterpart agency, which has enabled us to have more concrete information about the real potentials in the country.
The practical execution of this campaign was carried out by conducting meetings with previously targeted companies and discovering new companies, which participated in the fair "CNR Food Istanbul - Food and Beverage Products, Food Processing Technologies Meeting", one of the main fairs for food industry in Turkey, which took place from August 31 to September 3, 2022.
In AIDA’s view, promotion efforts are also linked with the constant engagement with investors which are already present in Albania. By offering effective services and keeping the communication channels open, AIDA gains trust, visibility and credibility for other potential investors which will engage with us for their plans of investing in Albania.
One of AIDA’s objectives is to provide investors with information on the best ways to deal with the impact of Covid-19. In continuous communication with EBRD, the team of the Investment promotion & After Care servicing at AIDA, has completed the "Know How to… in a Crisis" programme, developed and offered by EBRD.
The Know How to… in a Crisis advisory programme has been developed to provide practical information and vital resources on how to manage and survive as a business through crisis situations such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The programme will provide critical 'know-how' and business tools to micro, and small business in 30 economies where the EBRD invest. They are designed to respond to your key questions and learning needs.
The programme includes the following five 30-minute e-learning modules, as well as a regularly updated library of resources and tools:
In alignment with AIDA’s direct communication and ongoing assistance to businesses, as well as taking into consideration that not all businesses and their respective personnel might have access to the original source of these modules, AIDA aims to facilitate the access of enterprises to these vital resources and tools, as well as distribute and transmit them to businesses through other more direct mediums (which might be in the form of training sessions, brochures, presentations, webinars, etc.). For this purpose, AIDA has adapted each module of the EBRD programme into preliminary brochure and presentation formats to be distributed to a wider audience.
AIDA has also been engaged in following webinars of various topics which cover a series of industries, in order to gain better insight on the developments in the world and in order to spread this information to our investors.
AIDA has a proactive role in approaching foreign investors, already present in Albania.
The Aftercare sector has developed a network of communication and cooperation with the relevant interested parties, important at the local and central level in order to promote reinvestment in Albania. Effectively this translates into job growth and overall improvement of the investment climate in the country.
In this regard, AIDA has institutionalized cooperation with the local government, in order to be in a common synergy towards improving the service for current foreign investors and generating new investors.
The cooperation network has already been consolidated in 11 municipalities of the country: Shkodër, Vlorë, Tirana, Durrës, Berat, Lezhë, Elbasan, Kavajë, Vorë and Kamëz. Within the year 2022, the circle of cooperation with the municipalities was expanded with the municipality of Kamza, with the help of GIZ. This mechanism serves investors and the development of their business plan, solving their concerns has strengthened the relationship between central and local government, and especially encouraged reinvestment.
